The 41st annual Sri Krishna Vesha Competition organised by Kalkura Foundation at the Kadri Temple premises will be held on Wednesday. Three more competitions Shree Krishna Kavana, Shree Krishna Geethe and Solo Bhajana singing have been added this year.
Addressing media persons, S Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, President of the Foundation, said that three events have been added to the already existing 40 or more events. Around 3,000 people from various walks of life are expected to participate in the daylong competition.
Explaining about the newly added competition, Kalkura said that Krishna Kavana has three categories, high school, college, and open to all. The participants are required to compose a poem on Lord Krishna. The poem can be composed in any language. Another event is Krishna Geethe, a traditional bhajan. There are two categories, below 18 years and above 18 years. Geethe can be composed either in Tulu or Kannada.
The third newly added event is Pandarapura Vittala. Kalkura said that this is a solo bhajan event, and one must participate in traditional attire. It is an open-category event. This event will be held at Sharada Educational Institution, Kodialbail, on September 3. Meanwhile, two events will be held online. Kalkura said that during the pandemic, for two years, the event was held online. We will continue to hold two events online, which comprise Krishna Vriksha and Gopalakrishna. The rest of the 41 events will be held offline at the Kadri Temple premises and Sharada Educational Institution, Kodialbail, added Kalkura. The main highlight of the event, Cradle Krishna, for infants up to six months, followed by Muddu Krishna (kids aged above 1 year and below 2 years) and Tunta Krishna (Between 2 to 3 years) on Wednesday.
