A meeting of Disha Committee was held at Zilla Panchayat hall. The issue of crop damage survey by the horticulture department was discussed. An unscientific survey has been carried out on the damage to onion and chilli crops. Members of the Disha Committee complained that soon after it was reported that there was no crop, they mentioned that it was good.
The committee members made the allegations along with the documents. Joshi, who examined the document, came down heavily on the officials. He took a class for Horticulture Department Deputy Director Bhadranna. How much did you learn in school?, he asked. Haven’t you read all this in M.Sc., Horticulture, he asked. Joshi advised the committee members to stage a dharna in front of the horticulture office as they did not give a proper reply on the unscientific survey.Finally, the Minister instructed the Deputy Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde and brought it to the notice of the Chief Secretary and Horticulture Department Secretary. Give me another report, he said. Otherwise, we will have to come out on the streets and fight, he cautioned.
