Three people were arrested by Mulki police for alleged assault, unlawful confinement, harassment and threatening to kill a woman.

According to the details, complainant Vanaja (40), a native of Shivamogga, presently residing at Maimuna Foundation, Karnadu, Mulki, was working as a home nurse and later as an assistant in Bharath Mall.

During the pandemic, the complainant lost her job and could not afford to pay the rent and requested one of the accused Shivam, a resident of Pumpwell for help. He sent her to the Maimuna Foundation at Mulki with Dawood, brother of one more accused Mohammed Asif. The complainant has been living in Maimuna Foundation for a year.

Shashidhar was the warden cum manager of Maimuna Foundation, when Vanaja joined. After that, he left his job after indulging in some scam in the organization. Accused Asif used to physically torture the complainant Vanaja suspecting that she was involved in some scam with Shashidhar.

On March 30, accused Asif brought Shivam, one more accused, to Maimuna Foundation and asked him to beat up the complainant. Shivam assaulted the victim on her face and hand. Later Asif forced the victim to give in writing that former manager Shashidhar was involved in a scam in the company and then assaulted her with a belt on her back, right hand, thigh and left arm. He also attacked her head with a wicket.

Victim Vanaja was taken to A J hospital and there she was made to say that she was injured in fall. After bandaging, she was taken to the office of Maimuna Foundation and was kept locked in a room. However, her sympathiser, ambulance driver Sathish gave the room key to Vanaja who escaped from there and lodged a complaint with the police.

Mulki police have arrested Asif, Shivam and Mohammed Aftab in this connection. Further investigations are on.
