Rain Disappears In Malnad, Farmer Turns To Sprinklers To Save Maize

For the last 25 days, the monsoon rains have been missing in  the District of Malnad. Due to this, the maize and paddy already sown are drying up. Farmers have come forward to save the crop through sprinkler jet water.

The farmers, who were expecting a good harvest and profits, were earlier hit hard by the torrential rains, but now the rains have disappeared and added to the headache. There is a sense of anxiety among the farmers who have taken loans to sow. Farmers in Shikaripura, Soraba and Shivamogga rural taluks, which are the largest maize growers, are in tears when they see their crops drying up. The tunga river, which was overflowing due to heavy rains in the district nearly a month ago, has now receded.

  The district received a total of 24.12 mm rainfall in the last 00 hours, with an average rainfall of 041 mm. The normal normal rainfall for August is 404.86 mm and the average rainfall recorded so far is 82.89 mm. Shivamogga received 0.00 mm, Bhadravathi 1.10 mm, Thirthahalli 1.10 mm, Sagar 0.20 mm, Shikaripura 0.20 mm, Soraba 0.20 mm and Hosanagara 1.10 mm.
