In a significant development, the CCB (Central Crime Branch) Police in Bengaluru have successfully apprehended three of Sri Lanka’s most wanted criminals, along with their local accomplice. The arrested individuals, Sri Lankan nationals Kasin Kumar, Amila Nuwan, and Ranga Prasad, were harbored by Jai Paramesh alias Jock in Bengaluru. Joint Commissioner of Police, Dr. SD Sharanappa, confirmed the arrests and shared the details of the operation. Jai Paramesh, himself accused of murder, provided refuge to the trio in Vishwa Prakriti Apartments located in Yalahanka, a locality in Bengaluru. The CCB Police have gathered crucial information about the criminal records of these Sri Lankan nationals. Kasin Kumar faces four murder cases in Sri Lanka, while Amila Nuwan is implicated in five murder cases, and Ranga Prasad is linked to assault and murder cases. The police operation resulted in the seizure of several items from the arrested individuals, including 13 mobile phones, various visiting cards from Sri Lanka, bus tickets, newspaper clippings, copies of rental agreements, Aadhaar cards, and photocopies of election identity cards. The arrested individuals are facing serious charges, including violations under the Foreign Act of 1947, and sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) such as 109 (abetment), 120B (criminal conspiracy), and 212 (harboring an offender). This successful operation underscores the coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies in different countries to apprehend criminals who cross international boundaries. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of international cooperation in maintaining security and upholding the rule of law.
