In a swift operation, the Gnanabharati police station has successfully apprehended two individuals responsible for the recent robbery of two students from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) at Nagarabhavi. The victims, both second-year law students, were targeted while sitting at a bus stop outside the college gate during the early hours of a Monday. The culprits, identified as employees of a furniture shop in Basaveshwar Nagar, have been taken into custody.
The accused individuals, B Rahul Kumar from Uttar Pradesh and S Irfan from Kurubarahalli, were riding a scooter when they spotted the victims seated at the dimly lit bus stop. They resorted to intimidation, brandishing a knife to threaten the students before fleeing with a mobile phone valued at Rs 45,000. The incident took a new turn when one of the accused provided his phone number to the victims, purportedly for a UPI transaction intended to return the stolen phones. This led to their eventual capture, as the police managed to trace the phone number and swiftly apprehended the culprits on Wednesday. The stolen mobile phones were also recovered during the operation.
Both accused, B Rahul Kumar and S Irfan, are first-time offenders. They have been remanded to judicial custody, awaiting further legal proceedings. The victims’ quick thinking and cooperation with the authorities have played a crucial role in swiftly resolving the case.
