Child Killed In Wild Animal Attack, Anger Against Forest Department

In a tragic incident, a girl died after being attacked by an unidentified animal at Yariyur village in Yelandur taluk of the district. The deceased has been identified as Rukmini (3). Rukmini was playing in the garden 15 days ago when she was attacked by a wild animal and bit on the head.

The girl was seriously injured and was admitted to a hospital. However, she succumbed to her injuries late on Wednesday night.  The forest department officials did not visit the child’s house but did not listen to them and did not even come to the hospital, the family staged a protest by placing the child’s body in front of the Yelandur range forest office on Thursday. They insisted that the BRT DCF should come to the spot.

The family alleged that the child died due to the negligence of the authorities. There was tension in the area. People shouted slogans of defiance against the local representatives and the DCF. Police personnel have been deployed at the spot.
