Man Arrested For Duping Hired Tractors By Mortgaging Them

Hunsur Rural Police have arrested a man for allegedly hiring tractors from farmers and pawning them to private parties. Such a case has come to light from the interrogation of the arrested accused. Nandeesh, a resident of Gananakatte in Hanagud hobli of Hunsur taluk, had taken tractors from farmers on the pretext of rent and then pawned them to private parties for more money and fled.

Nandish and Ramu, a resident of NS Tittu Layout, had purchased the tractor from the showroom after taking tractors from several farmers on the pretext of renting them out. He could not pay the monthly instalments. During this time, Nandish came and asked for a tractor to be rented. He said he would pay the monthly instalment and took away the tractor. However, a few days later, when the finance company returned home saying that the monthly instalment had not been paid, Ramu realised that he had been cheated. He immediately lodged a complaint with the police.

The police, who registered a case, said that when they went to trace the accused Nandish, they came to know that several such people had fallen victim to the fraud. The information came to light when the accused Nandish was arrested and interrogated. Apart from Ramu, Rathnamma of Penjahalli village, Ravi of Kottegala and many other farmers had hired tractors and mortgaged them to private parties.

The Police have seized the tractors mortgaged by the accused Nandish, of which only four tractors have registration. A case has been registered against four people. The rest of the tractors were parked in front of the police station as they were not even having registration numbes.
