Forest Department Removes Encroachments

There have been allegations that thousands of acres of land belonging to the forest department has been encroached upon across Kolar district for the past several years. Following this, DFO Edukondala led the officials to clear the encroachments on the land belonging to the forest department. Accordingly, the removal of encroachments near Hogalere forest area in Srinivasapura taluk of the district is being carried out on Wednesday.

The officials, who have been pressed into action through around 20 JCBs on Wednesday morning, will clear about 120 acres of encroachments belonging to the Hogalere forest area and take it over by the forest department. The department has already issued notices to the encroachers and tight Police  security has been put in place to prevent any untoward incident at the site. Similarly, this is the first time in the last 15-20 years that the Forest Department is carrying out a massive encroachment clearance drive.
