A somber incident unfolded in Frasertown as Joman Varghese (40), who was accused of stealing gold jewelry from the house of his employer, tragically took his own life on Monday. Joman, hailing from Kottayam, Kerala, worked as a car driver in the residence of Gayatri J. Gopal, a resident of Green Avenue Apartments in Frasertown. He was provided with a small room for his accommodation on the premises. The incident came to light when approximately 250 grams of gold jewelry was reported missing from Gayathri’s new flat’s locker a few days back. In response, Gayathri filed a complaint at Pulakeshinagar police station on August 17, casting suspicions on four domestic workers, including Joman. Following the complaint, the police initiated an investigation and summoned Joman to the police station for questioning. Tragically, on Monday afternoon, Joman was found dead by hanging himself from the window rail of a toilet on the apartment’s terrace. The police immediately responded to the scene, conducting an examination and recording a video of the area. A handwritten letter in Malayalam was discovered at the scene, containing the name of the apartment owner. The contents of the letter are being translated from Malayalam to Kannada by the authorities. The reasons behind Joman’s decision to take his own life remain uncertain and are subject to ongoing investigation. The police have informed Joman’s wife about the tragic incident. DCP of East Division, Dr. Bhima Shankar Guled, has indicated that further details will be revealed as the investigation progresses.
