In such dire situation where people are struggling for drinking water in Cauvery basin Karnataka, the state government has forgotten the interest of the state by diverting water to Tamil Nadu.  State President of the Farmers Association and Hasiru Sene,  Kodihalli Chandrasekhar demanded that the State Government should immediately stop the water being diverted to Tamil Nadu.

According to the decision of the State Farmers Association and Hasiru Sene State Committee meeting  while going to the Deputy Commissioner’s  office and submitting a petition, he said that no crop in Tamil Nadu has dried up. There is enough water in Mettur, Bhavani and Grand dams. He said that water has been released as part of India’s alliance.

Harangi, Hemavati and Krishnaraja Sagar Reservoir’s Achkattu area of Cauvery basin did not receive the expected level of rain. Millet and other crops, which the farmers had sown not once, but twice, have dried up. The shadow of drinking water problem in the future is thick. Even so, he questioned why there was a need to release 10 thousand cusecs of water per day under the hardship formula, he said that before the Cauvery Water Management Committee, the law and irrigation departments have completely failed to portray the irrigation problem facing the state. Therefore, Kodihalli Chandra Shekhar demanded that the water being released to Tamil Nadu should be stopped immediately.

In this regard, a request was given to the Additional Deputy Commissioner. In the protest, State Secretary Manjunath Gowda, State Secretary of the State Farmers Association and Hasiru Sene, Vice President Kenkere Satish, Raghavendra Shirasi, Umesh Patil, Bhairegowda, Dhananjay Aradhya and others  participated in the protest.
