Chikkamagalur
One person was killed on the spot in a car-bike collision on Monday. The incident took place near Hemagiri gate in Kadur taluk. The bike got stuck in the car due to the impact of the collision and the driver fled leaving the car on the spot. The deceased has been identified as Kallamma (60), a resident of Mavuthanahalli village in Arasikere taluk.
The car belongs to Chowdaiah, a former member of Banavara Zilla Panchayat constituency. The incident took place under Kadur police station limits.
In another incident, one person was killed in a head-on collision between a lorry and an auto. The deceased has been identified as Manjunath (45). Five people were seriously injured. The injured have been admitted to the District Hospital and are being treated. The incident took place near Lakya Cross in Chikkamagalur valley. The workers, who were on their way to work in an autorickshaw, were injured.
The workers were on their way to Allampur from Sakharaya town. The injured have been admitted to the district hospital by locals. The two have been shifted to Hassan and Mangaluru for further treatment. Rural Station Police visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
