The Congress party has secured a clear majority by winning 135 seats in the Assembly elections. The party is giving good governance in the state. Therefore, our government does not need Operation Hasta, said MLA Tanveer Sait. He was replying to questions from media persons.

Even if the anti-defection law is effective, to what extent is it right to resign and go to the people? In 2008, it was the BJP that brought in a bad culture called Operation Kamala. Seth said he would not give much credit to the idea.

The people of the state have reposed faith in us. We have to fulfil the promises we made. It is our duty to provide good governance. Such speculative news circulates when opposition leaders meet the chief minister or when the ruling MLAs meet someone else. Those concerned should clarify this. I won’t talk much, he said, dismissing the idea of the operation.

The BJP should first repair their house. Let the election of the leader of the opposition be made urgently. Let’s sit in the opposition and do a decent job. Such operations take place if they do not repair their house. He suggested that it should not be allowed.

Asked if the Congress was trying to further weaken the BJP and JD(S) to win the Lok Sabha elections, he said, there is no point in further shrinking the already shrinking parties. He said the Congress would not indulge in any such work.

Tanveer Sait hit back at the BJP for protesting over the release of Cauvery water and said, Our government is not the only one who has released water to Tamil Nadu. Water has been released during the tenure of all governments, he said.
