Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has called upon prominent BJP leaders, including Ashoka Chakraborty, Navarangi Narayan, CT Ravi, and Gopalaya, who have been implicated in contractor-related allegations, to provide clarifications. Responding to media queries at the KPCC office, Shivakumar refrained from discussing the contractors’ situation directly but urged those implicated in the matter to address the allegations first. When questioned about the reversal of statements by contractor Hemant and others who initially intended to take an oath at Ajjaiah’s Math, Shivakumar responded that the contractors’ plight was a matter of concern, but his focus was on seeking responses from the aforementioned BJP leaders who have been connected to the issue. Regarding the availability of documents detailing alleged irregularities involving BJP leaders, Shivakumar indicated that further information would be provided in due course. He expressed his awareness of the actions and involvements of various individuals, such as Navarangi, Chakraborty, and others, but emphasized the need to properly scrutinize the details before responding comprehensively. He also mentioned Ashwath Narayana as a central figure in alleged wrongdoing and suggested a history of baseless accusations against the Congress-led government. He noted that some individuals, who were not successful in securing the position of opposition leader, have resorted to making false claims. Shivakumar concluded by highlighting the responsibility of the government to manage public funds prudently and mentioned the intention to release funds to trustworthy contractors based on the findings of a fact-finding report.
