The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids in various states, including Karnataka, in connection with the Popular Front of India (PFI) conspiracy case and seized various incriminating documents. The raids were conducted at three places in Dakshina Kannada district, including Melkar in Bantwal taluk.
The officials raided the house of a man at Bogodi near Melkar in Bantwal taluk and searched for important documents. The accused was a religious teacher in Kerala. Some documents have been seized from his house.
The NIA had earlier busted the PFI’s funding network. Bantwal’s name had cropped up in the interrogation of the arrested persons. It was learnt that he was also linked to the PFI funding network. Thus, the NIA raided the house. The NIA also raided the house of Mushtaq, a resident of Valachil on the outskirts of city. The PFI used to conduct arms training camps in different states of the country to train its cadres. The NIA suspects that some middle-level PFI agents were working as master trainers.
In a press release, the NIA said, the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) is engaged in instilling communal feelings among the people and destabilising the country by disturbing peace in the society. The NIA has conducted raids in various parts of the state to foil the conspiracy. The NIA has conducted searches at 14 locations in five states in connection with the PFI conspiracy case. Digital devices and important documents have been seized, it said.
The NIA is working to thwart the conspiracy of the banned PFI. The PFI has also formed an armed force of youth to carry out anti-India activities. The NIA is trying to foil the conspiracy.
