HOUSTON
India is taking big steps forward on the world stage. Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar recently traveled to Houston, Texas, to share India’s impressive progress at the G20 Energy meetings. He spoke about strengthening energy security, growing clean power, and making rules simpler and faster for new infrastructure projects.
During the ministerial sessions, Minister Khattar proudly announced that India’s total installed power capacity has reached an amazing 552 gigawatts. Even better, more than half of that power now comes from non-fossil fuel sources. He pointed out major achievements in solar energy, advanced energy storage systems, nuclear power, and clean cooking access for families. India firmly believes in keeping energy choices open, inclusive, and friendly to new technologies. He also highlighted global teamwork efforts like the International Solar Alliance and the Global Biofuels Alliance.
When discussing regulatory efficiency, Khattar explained how India uses smart digital platforms like the National Single Window System and PM Gati Shakti. These tools help speed up approvals so that vital energy projects can be built without unnecessary delays.
On the sidelines, the minister held important one-on-one talks with top global leaders. He met with US Energy Secretary Chris Wright to chat about powering future artificial intelligence data centers and expanding nuclear energy. They agreed to keep working closely under the US-India Energy Security Partnership.
Khattar also met with Canadian official Corey Hogan to discuss low-emission technologies and deep-sea exploration. He invited Canadian businesses to invest in India’s growing energy sectors.
