Hanagal MLA Srinivas Mane took charge as the new chairman of the Karnataka Housing Board in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
He said he would work towards fulfilling Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s goal of providing housing facilities to 50,000 landless families in every district. Mane thanked party leaders and the government for entrusting him with the responsibility.
Speaking after assuming office, Mane said providing affordable and quality homes to poor and middle-class families would be his main priority. He said the Housing Board should become more people-friendly, transparent and effective. He also expressed confidence that the government’s housing target could be achieved through cooperation from officials, elected representatives and the public.
Mane said he would treat the new position as another opportunity to serve people and promised to discharge his responsibilities honestly. He stressed the need to help families who dream of owning a home. Haveri District In-charge Minister Rudrappa Lamani, MLAs Basavaraj Shivannavara, U.B. Bankara, Prakash Koliwada and Yasir Khan Pathana, along with Congress Lok Sabha candidate Anandaswamy Gaddadevaramath, were present during the occasion and extended their support.
