DANDELI
A black panther entered a resort in Hasan Mal village of Dandeli taluk early Monday and killed a German Shepherd, causing concern among residents. The animal attacked the dog, owned by resort proprietor Abdul Karim Khatib, at around 4 am while it was sleeping inside the resort premises. The dog died at the spot following the attack. The incident was captured on the resort’s CCTV camera. Wild animals are frequently seen in the Hasan Mal area near the Dandeli-Anshi Tiger Reserve. However, the panther entering a resort close to homes has worried villagers. Forest officials inspected the area and villagers sought immediate safety measures.
