Mysuru
The reservoirs in the Mysuru region continue to receive substantial inflows following widespread monsoon rains, with Kabini and Hemavati remaining close to their maximum storage levels, according to the water-level bulletin dated August 10.
The Kabini reservoir is the most striking feature of the latest figures. Against its maximum level of 2,284 ft, the reservoir stood at 2,283.04 ft, just about a foot below the full-reservoir level. Kabini was receiving a strong inflow of 12,044 cusecs, while 12,000 cusecs was being released downstream, indicating active regulation of the reservoir.
The Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) reservoir also recorded a healthy inflow of 11,587 cusecs. Its water level stood at 108.66 ft, against a maximum of 124.80 ft. The outflow was comparatively lower at 2,335 cusecs, allowing the reservoir to retain a significant portion of the incoming water.
The Hemavati reservoir too remained almost full. Its level stood at 2,858.22 ft, against the maximum of 2,859 ft. The reservoir was receiving 6,571 cusecs, while the outflow stood slightly higher at 7,125 cusecs.
Meanwhile, the Nugu reservoir recorded a level of 2,369.80 ft, against its maximum of 2,380 ft. It was receiving 283 cusecs, with no water being released.
The Harangi reservoir stood at 2,409.65 ft, compared with its maximum level of 2,425 ft. Its inflow was only 16 cusecs, with no outflow reported.
Kabini remains the key watchpoint
With Kabini standing only marginally below its maximum level and receiving more than 12,000 cusecs, authorities are closely monitoring inflows and releases. The latest figures underline the continuing strength of the southwest monsoon and the improved water position across major reservoirs in the region.
