Village growth forms the base for national progress, according to top leaders who spoke at a major local gathering. Former Speaker V.R. Sudarshan and DIGP D. Devaraj attended the grand closing event of the 2090th Madhyavarjana Camp in the city. The Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project organized the eight-day program at Krishnananda Kalyana Mantapa to help people quit bad habits.
Sudarshan stated that modern life requires both knowledge and prayer. He reminded the audience that ancient temples were built on hills to protect nature and bring peace. He noted that true wisdom requires moral values, humanity, and a strong sense of service to build a better society.
Presiding over the event, DIGP D. Devaraj praised the project for changing thousands of lives through anti-addiction and social awareness campaigns. He emphasized that strong, cultured families lead directly to strong villages and a powerful nation. He urged everyone to stay away from alcohol and harmful vices that destroy households.
A deeply emotional moment marked the ceremony when fifty-seven participants who successfully quit drinking celebrated Family Day with their wives. Project workers performed aarti for these couples, and husbands placed flowers on their wives’ heads to mark a fresh start filled with hope and peace.
Leaders also administered the oath to new office bearers for the Janajagruti Vedike, naming Kadahalli R. Shashikumar as president and Ravi Reddy as vice president. Many local dignitaries and project officers attended to support the participants.
