Road repair works on the main route connecting Belagodu Lake and Hassan have been completed following concerns raised over the deteriorating condition of the stretch due to continuous rainfall.
The issue came to light after a media report highlighted the danger posed by the weakening road near the lake. Due to incessant rains, the lake embankment had weakened, causing portions of the road to collapse. The damage had raised fears that the lake could breach, potentially affecting nearby agricultural lands.
The damaged stretch also created safety concerns for farmers, motorists and the general public, particularly those travelling during night hours. Following the media report, local MLA responded immediately and directed the concerned officials to take emergency measures.
The authorities carried out repair works on priority, restoring the damaged portion of the road and preventing further risk to commuters and surrounding areas. The swift action brought relief to residents and farmers who had been worried about possible accidents and damage caused by the weakened road.
Locals appreciated the prompt response from the MLA and officials in addressing the issue. They said timely intervention helped prevent a major problem and ensured safer travel on the important route.
Residents have also urged authorities to take up permanent strengthening works in the area to avoid similar situations during future monsoons. They stressed the need for regular inspection and maintenance of roads near water bodies to ensure public safety.
