BJP MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar accused the Congress of attempting to create unrest in the country by continuing protests over the NEET question paper leak, despite the Centre taking action against those responsible.
Wadiyar said the Union government had treated the alleged NEET paper leak seriously, initiated legal proceedings against the accused, conducted a re-examination and declared the results. He alleged that despite these measures, the Congress was continuing to use the issue to create confusion and mislead the public.
“The protests are part of a systematic conspiracy by the Congress to create unrest in the country,” he claimed.
Drawing comparisons with political developments in neighbouring countries, Wadiyar alleged that the Congress was attempting to replicate situations witnessed in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. However, he said India’s democratic institutions were strong and the people would respond through the electoral process rather than street agitation.
Commenting on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Wadiyar also expressed doubts over the transparency of the process in Mysuru’s Narasimharaja (NR) Assembly constituency.
He alleged that irregularities had persisted in the constituency for decades and claimed that people from neighbouring Kerala and other States had been included in the electoral rolls over the years. According to him, there was a possibility of such practices continuing during the current revision exercise.
His remarks come amid heightened political exchanges between the BJP and Congress over the NEET issue and the ongoing voter list revision process in Karnataka.
