‘Kannappa’ returns to theatres with new release date

The makers of the devotional film Kannappa have announced its re-release in theatres on June 27, giving audiences another opportunity to watch the mythological drama on the big screen. The announcement was made along with a new poster featuring actor Vishnu Manchu in an emotional scene embracing a Shiva Lingam. The production team shared the update on media platforms, confirming the film’s return to cinemas later this month.

Inspired by Hindu mythology, the film tells the story of Thinnadu, portrayed by Vishnu Manchu, and his spiritual journey of devotion and sacrifice. Actress Preity Mukhundhan plays the role of Nemali in the movie. The film is known for its grand visuals, devotional theme, and emotional storytelling. Critics praised its cinematography, musical score, and climactic sequences, particularly highlighting the film’s strong visual appeal and cultural roots.

The cast also features several prominent stars, including Prabhas, Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar and Brahmanandam in important roles. Despite generating considerable excitement before its release, the film received mixed reactions from audiences and struggled to maintain momentum at the box office. While its opening-day collections were considered respectable, earnings reportedly declined in the following days due to lower theatre occupancy.

With the re-release, the makers hope the film will attract a wider audience and gain renewed appreciation among devotees and lovers of mythological cinema. The fresh theatrical run is expected to begin across selected cinemas on June 27.
