Indian fast bowler Prasidh Krishna stated that the ongoing three-match ODI series against Afghanistan is crucial for building team rhythm ahead of the 2027 Men’s ODI World Cup. Speaking at the HPCA Stadium, where heavy rain delayed the opening match’s toss, Krishna emphasized the long-term importance of these fixtures.
The right-arm pacer explained that these international matches allow the squad to test out the right combinations and pinpoint areas that require improvement. Reflecting on his recent stellar Test appearance in New Chandigarh, where he claimed impressive figures of 3-37, Krishna revealed that his recent training has focused extensively on hitting a fuller, more uncomfortable length for batsmen.
Transitioning back to white-ball cricket after a busy multi-format schedule, Krishna noted that success relies heavily on mental adaptation. He explained that his primary goal in the shorter format is to bowl tight lines, restrict easy runs, and apply maximum pressure on the opposition.
With key veterans Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Hardik Pandya missing from the current squad, Krishna downplayed any talk of seniority or hierarchy in the bowling department. He insisted that the players have shared the dressing room for a long time, enabling them to learn from and support one another as equals.
The Indian squad, captained by Shubman Gill, will look to use this home series to test their bench strength and fine-tune their strategic plans as the countdown to the mega tournament in Africa officially begins.
