Santosh Lad raises concerns over voter list revisions

Intro

DHARWAD

Minister Santosh Lad said in Dharwad that voter list revisions carried out in several states show large-scale deletions and additions across India. He said reports mention voter deletions of 27 lakh in West Bengal and large numbers in Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Maharashtra and Haryana. He claimed that millions of voters are being targeted nationally and questioned the process of verification and transparency. He also said similar exercises may take place in Karnataka in future.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he made remarks about governance, travel and public programmes. He also mentioned former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in comparison with current national economic conditions. He criticised economic policies and referred to rising costs of living, education issues and closure of schools during earlier years. He also mentioned actor and MP Kangana Ranaut in his comments on public debate and media discussions. He said middle-class concerns, gold purchases and economic pressures are being widely discussed across the country. He added that political decisions and policy debates continue to shape public opinion ahead of future elections. Leaders from different states and parties have raised questions about electoral roll revisions and their implementation methods.

The minister concluded that voters should remain aware and seek clarity on electoral processes through official channels. Addressing public concerns, he said that election authorities must ensure accurate verification of voter lists before any removal process. He questioned why large-scale deletions are happening differently across states and asked who will be held responsible for irregularities. He said democratic rights of citizens must be protected and no eligible voter should be denied voting due to technical errors. He further added that transparency and accountability are essential in maintaining trust in the electoral system of the country.

The remarks sparked discussion among political circles in Dharwad, where leaders debated voter list revision policies and implementation. He urged citizens to stay informed and participate actively in strengthening democratic processes through awareness and engagement. He concluded that public dialogue on electoral reforms is necessary for a healthy democracy in India.
