KOPPAL
The much-awaited “Koppal Mango Exhibition and Sales Fair” officially kicked off at the Horticulture Department office. The event was launched by local leaders, including MP K. Rajashekar Basavaraj Hitnal and District Collector Dr. Suresh B. Itnal, who gathered to celebrate the region’s famous summer fruit.
Started from May 12 to May 22, the fair transforms the Horticulture Joint Director’s premises into a vibrant marketplace. Dignitaries spent the morning touring various stalls, tasting fresh slices of mango, and enjoying local snacks. They praised the department for creating a space where farmers can sell directly to the public, ensuring fresh quality for every shopper.
The exhibition features an impressive variety of mangoes that have already caught the eye of local residents. Popular types like Kesar, Dashahari, and the famous Aapoos (Alphonso) are stacked high alongside Mallika and Totapuri varieties. For those looking for something extra, the fair also offers mango products like tangy pickles and sweet pulps, making it a one-stop shop for fruit lovers.
Horticulture Joint Director Krishna C. Ukkunda guided the guests through the displays, explaining how these fairs support local agriculture. With many officials and staff members present at the opening, the event highlighted a strong community effort to boost rural development. Residents are encouraged to visit the fair over the next ten days to enjoy the best of the harvest and support local growers.
