Every child must receive vital Polio vaccine: Itnal

KOPPAL

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Suresh B. Itnal has issued a strong call to action for the upcoming National Pulse Polio Vaccination Program. Presiding over a district-level meeting, he emphasized that no child under the age of five should miss out on this life-saving drop during the campaign scheduled from June 28 to July 1.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed that polio eradication is a top government priority. He instructed health workers, including ASHA and Anganwadi staff, to work in total coordination. While booths will be open on the first day, teams will spend the following three days going door-to-door. Specific focus will be placed on reaching children in rural areas, slums, and migrant worker camps to ensure total coverage.

“This is not just the health department’s job,” Dr. Itnal stated. He urged all departments and the public to join hands. To spread the word, schools will organize awareness rallies, and announcements will be made at bus stands and religious places. He specifically asked officials to talk to parents and clear any doubts or mistrust regarding the vaccine.

District Health Officer Dr. Lingaraju T. explained that booth vaccinations will run from 8 am to 5 pm on June 28. Following this, mobile teams will track down any remaining children at their homes and workplaces. With leaders like Zilla Panchayat CEO Varnit Negi in attendance, the message was clear, through teamwork and public awareness, Koppal aims for a 100 percent success rate in keeping its children safe.
