Flood Landslide Zones

The district administration in Dakshina Kannada has issued a comprehensive alert identifying multiple flood- and landslide-prone regions ahead of the monsoon season. Officials have directed local authorities to strengthen preparedness measures to minimise loss of life and property.
Based on past incidents and geographical vulnerability, the administration has compiled a list of high-risk areas across several taluks. These locations are prone to flooding due to river overflow, heavy rainfall, and waterlogging, while hilly regions face risks of landslides triggered by unstable soil and steep slopes.
In Bantwal taluk, areas such as Navooru, Maninalkur, Sarapady, Sajipa Munnur and Panemangaluru have been marked as flood-prone, while Amradi, Pernae and Kariyangala are identified as landslide-sensitive zones.
In Sullia taluk, Harihara Pallathadka, Kollamogru and Kalmakaru are vulnerable to flooding, whereas Sampaje, Aranthodu and Markunja face landslide risks. Kadaba taluk areas including Subrahmanya, Kokradi and Ichlampady have been flagged for both flood and landslide threats.
In Puttur taluk, Uppinangady, Ballipady and Bajathur are under close monitoring, while Belthangady taluk has emerged as the most vulnerable zone with several sensitive locations including Charmadi, Dharmasthala, Shishila, Venur and Kanyadi.
District authorities have instructed local bodies to closely monitor these regions, complete preventive works before heavy rains intensify, and ensure timely relocation of residents from high-risk zones if required.
Dakshina Kannada Additional Deputy Commissioner K. Raju said preparations are underway to manage both drinking water supply and monsoon emergencies. He added that district-level review meetings with ministers and officials will soon assess readiness and safety arrangements across vulnerable areas.
