The 112th Foundation Day of the Karnataka Sahitya Parishat (KASAP) will be observed on May 5 in Jewargi town, according to organisers.

The event is being organised by the local KASAP unit to mark the institution’s long-standing contribution to the promotion of Kannada language, literature, and cultural awareness across Karnataka.

According to organisers, the programme will bring together literary enthusiasts, writers, teachers, and students from the region. The celebration aims to highlight the role of the Parishat in nurturing Kannada literature and encouraging cultural activities at the grassroots level.

Speakers at the event are expected to discuss the history and objectives of KASAP, its efforts in strengthening Kannada identity, and its initiatives in promoting reading habits among the youth. Cultural programmes and literary discussions will also be part of the event.

The organisers said that the Foundation Day is an opportunity to reflect on the institution’s achievements over the past century and renew commitment towards preserving and promoting Kannada language and heritage.

Local literary figures and community leaders are expected to attend the programme. Preparations are underway to ensure participation from various literary organisations and educational institutions in and around Jewargi.

The event will also focus on encouraging young writers and students to engage more actively in Kannada literature and cultural activities, reinforcing the Parishat’s mission of spreading linguistic and cultural awareness across the state.
