Trump featured on limited-edition US passports for anniversary

Washington

The United States Department of State has announced plans to issue a limited-edition US passport to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence in July 2026.

The commemorative passport will feature images of Donald Trump along with artistic representations connected to the country’s founding era.

Officials said the redesigned pages will combine customised artwork with the same advanced security features used in standard passports. One page is expected to carry Trump’s portrait alongside excerpts from the Declaration of Independence, accompanied by the American flag and a gold-style signature. Another page will highlight a well-known depiction of the Founding Fathers during the signing of the Declaration.

The special passports will be released in limited numbers and made available only to applicants who appear in person at the Washington Passport Agency. Authorities noted that the documents will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis and will remain available until supplies are exhausted.

The initiative forms part of the broader “America250” celebrations, a nationwide effort to commemorate the United States’ semiquincentennial. Events associated with the programme are expected to include public festivities, cultural programmes, and high-profile activities in Washington, D.C. The announcement has drawn attention for its distinctive design approach, blending historic imagery with contemporary political figures in an official travel document marking a significant national milestone.
