District Guarantee Scheme Implementation Authority Chairman Reddy Srinivas has directed officials to take strict action against the illegal smuggling and sale of ration rice distributed under the Annabhagya scheme. He said strong measures must be taken to prevent misuse and ensure that benefits reach eligible families without diversion.

He was speaking while presiding over a district-level progress review meeting held at J.H. Patel Hall in the Koppal Zilla Panchayat on Thursday, focusing on the implementation of the state government’s five guarantee schemes.

Srinivas said ration rice supplied under the Annabhagya scheme must not be sold under any circumstances. He instructed officials to immediately book cases against offenders and file charge sheets without delay. He also stressed the need to create public awareness, noting that courts have already punished those involved in illegal sale of ration materials.

He directed that all fair price shops in the district must remain functional and be equipped with CCTV cameras to prevent irregularities. He also asked officials to regularly inspect food quality before distribution and ensure transparency through monitoring by guarantee scheme committee members.

The chairman said complaints have been received about poor response at CDPO offices regarding the Grihalakshmi scheme and instructed officials to resolve such issues immediately. He also ordered that payments made to deceased beneficiaries must be stopped promptly and technical issues in schemes like Grihajyoti must be corrected without delay.

He further said all Yuvanidhi beneficiaries should be enrolled in skill training programmes under the Yuvanidhi Plus initiative to improve employment opportunities. Under the Shakti scheme, he noted that over 11 crore women beneficiaries have already availed free bus travel benefits in the district.

Officials informed the meeting that under Grihalakshmi, over 3.21 lakh beneficiaries have received payments, while under Grihajyoti, 2.89 lakh consumers have benefited. Under Annabhagya, ration supplies have been distributed to over 3.63 lakh cardholders. Under Shakti, more than 11.22 crore women have availed free travel, and over 14,000 youths are registered under Yuvanidhi.

Zilla Panchayat CEO Varnit Negi and other officials also attended the meeting and discussed better implementation and awareness of welfare schemes across the district.
