The Additional District Court in Gangavathi has delivered a major verdict in the murder case of BJP Yuva Morcha city president Venkatesh Kurubar alias JNN Venky, sentencing six accused to death.

Judge Sadanand Nagappa Naik pronounced the judgment after examining evidence including CCTV footage and records of the accused’s past criminal involvement. The convicted persons have been identified as Ravi, Mailari, Dhanraj, Bhima, Salim and Gangadhar Gowli.

According to the court, the accused had committed a brutal attack on Venkatesh Kurubar, and the act was considered extremely serious and unacceptable in a civil society. The judge stated that the death penalty was awarded after considering the nature of the crime and its background.

The court had earlier found all six accused guilty in the murder case and reserved the sentencing for today. Government prosecutor S. Nagalakshmi confirmed that the court has now awarded capital punishment to all six convicts and they have the right to appeal in the High Court.

The case relates to the killing of Venkatesh Kurubar, who was attacked near Rana Pratap Singh Circle on the outskirts of Gangavathi on the night of October 8, 2025. Police said he was followed by a group of men after leaving dinner and was brutally assaulted with deadly weapons after being knocked down.

He was rushed to a government hospital in critical condition but was declared dead due to severe injuries.

Investigators said the murder was linked to old enmity and his alleged involvement in assisting a victim in another case. The verdict has drawn major attention in the region due to the seriousness of the crime and the court’s strong punishment.
