President Murmu Visits ARTRAC, Praises Indian Army Training Excellence

President Droupadi Murmu visited the Headquarters of the Army Training Command in Shimla on Friday, commending its vital role in strengthening the operational readiness and future capabilities of the Indian Army.

During her visit to Army Training Command in Shimla, the President was received by Kavinder Gupta, Governor of Himachal Pradesh, along with Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of ARTRAC. The visit highlighted the strategic importance of the command in shaping the professional and operational standards of the Indian Army.

Officials briefed the President on the evolution of ARTRAC and its central role in delivering advanced training to Army personnel. The command focuses on enhancing operational efficiency, developing modern warfare strategies, and strengthening institutional capabilities across the force.

Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma outlined several innovative initiatives undertaken by ARTRAC. These include expanded training in drone operations, the adoption of niche and emerging technologies, and the introduction of Red Teaming, a concept designed to test strategies and improve decision-making by simulating adversarial scenarios. Efforts toward digitisation and automation within the Army were also highlighted as key priorities.

President Murmu acknowledged ARTRAC’s comprehensive contribution to military development, including its involvement in designing warfare concepts, resource planning, and collaboration with friendly foreign nations and sister services. She described the command as a critical component in advancing national goals such as self-reliance and a stronger defense framework.

ARTRAC oversees 32 premier training institutions, playing a pivotal role in maintaining high standards of professionalism within the Indian Army. Its wide-ranging responsibilities provide a unique perspective on both the art and science of modern warfare.

During her interaction with senior officials, the President emphasized the importance of continuous innovation in military training to ensure national security. She encouraged the command to sustain its efforts in enhancing preparedness and adapting to evolving global security challenges.
