Beltangady
An incident of vandalism was reported at the Sri Panchalingeshwara temple in Balanja village, Beltangady, where a man identified as Ajay allegedly damaged temple property and desecrated the idol of the deity. According to reports, he first created a disturbance near a neighbouring house and was sent away. He later returned, entered the temple premises by climbing the structure, and caused extensive damage inside the shrine, including breaking the idol of Lord Gopalakrishna and scattering temple items. Police from Venur visited the spot, questioned the accused, and reportedly released him after obtaining a written undertaking. The incident has caused concern among locals, and authorities are expected to review the matter further.
