Visakhapatnam
The Social Welfare Department in Visakhapatnam celebrated the 119th birth anniversary of former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram, observed nationally as Samata Diwas. VMRDA Commissioner Tej Bharat highlighted Ram’s rise from a modest background to seven-time Union Minister and India’s first Labour Minister. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute, recalling his contributions to social justice, the Green Revolution, and India’s 1971 war victory.
