Bidar
A grand statue of cultural icon and world teacher Basavanna was unveiled at Ladha village in Aurad (B) taluk, attracting seers, public representatives, and devotees.
MLA Prabhu Chavan inaugurated the statue, calling Basavanna a visionary who introduced the Anubhava Mantapa, considered an early form of democratic assembly. Chavan highlighted his proposal to build a new Anubhava Mantapa at Basavakalyan, approved by former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa with ₹600 crore funding, which is nearing completion. He also noted that naming the Bidar district auditorium after Dr. Channabasava Pattadevaru was a matter of pride and that Basavanna’s birthplace is becoming an international tourist spot.
Chavan emphasized his commitment to public service inspired by Basavanna’s ideals and to the development of Aurad (B) and Kamalnagar taluks.
Lok Sabha MP Sagar Khandre encouraged people to read and follow Basavanna’s vachanas in daily life. Seer Nijagunananda Swamiji said statues preserve history and pass cultural values to future generations.
The programme was attended by several seers, government officials, members of Basava organisations, devotees, and local residents, making it a significant cultural and spiritual event for the district. The statue is expected to inspire visitors and promote awareness of Basavanna’s teachings for years to come.
