HYDERABAD
Thousands of panicked motorists swarmed petrol stations across Hyderabad, triggered by false rumors of a fuel shortage linked to conflicts in West Asia. Despite the massive crowds and long lines, government officials and oil companies have confirmed there is absolutely no shortage of petrol or diesel in the state.
From Ameerpet to LB Nagar, major roads saw heavy traffic as cars, buses, and trucks queued for hours to fill their tanks. The sudden surge in customers forced some stations to temporarily put up “No Stock” signs simply because they could not pump fuel fast enough to meet the unexpected rush. Local leaders explained that this “artificial scarcity” is created only when everyone tries to buy fuel at the exact same time.
Marri Amarender Reddy, president of the Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association, assured the public that depots for HPCL, IOCL, and BPCL have plenty of supplies. He also warned citizens that hoarding fuel in cans is extremely dangerous and against safety laws. Government departments further confirmed that domestic LPG gas cylinders are also fully available and moving through regular supply chains without any delay.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is scheduled to meet with top officials later today to monitor the situation and ensure distribution remains steady. Authorities are urging the public to stay calm, stop panic buying, and trust official updates. They emphasized that if residents return to their normal buying habits, the long queues at the stations will vanish almost immediately.
