Move to curb nuisance
BENGALURU
Namma Metro is very helpful in reaching different areas quickly amidst the daily city traffic. Metro is also the first choice of most of the city’s commuters. But as the number of metro users increases, some people are breaking the rules without paying much attention to the rules. Especially, the use of mobile phones is the reason for most of the rule breaking. This is causing annoyance to fellow commuters and thousands of complaints have been filed with BMRCL in a single month. As a result, the Metro Management Board has come to an important decision to curb this.
Most people use their mobile phones to pass the time while sitting in the metro. Sometimes they scroll reels, some watch YouTube, many put on Bluetooth and talk loudly, which has now become a source of annoyance for many fellow passengers. Although there is a rule that the sound should not be turned up while using mobile phones while traveling in the metro, it is being violated. For this reason, BMRCL has come forward to impose a fine.
Complaints continue to be received about people turning up the volume on their mobile phones, using Bluetooth and talking loudly, disturbing other passengers, eating and drinking in public, and smoking. According to the data from December 5 to 25, 6,520 cases have been registered against people for loud noise. 268 cases have been registered for eating and drinking in the metro. 641 complaints have been registered for smoking. Surprise inspections have been being conducted in our metro for the past one year. After giving enough warnings to many people, BMRCL is planning to experiment with force and soon the fines experiment plan will be implemented
