Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, accompanied by Shiv Sena ministers and legislators, on Sunday visited the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters at Reshimbagh and the revered Dikshabhumi in Nagpur, paying tribute to two influential institutions that have shaped Maharashtra’s socio-political and cultural landscape. The visits underscored the dual legacies of nationalist service and social justice that continue to influence public life in the state.
At the RSS headquarters in Reshimbagh, Shinde paid respects at the Dr Hedgewar Smruti Mandir and interacted with reporters thereafter. Praising the organisation’s century-long contribution to nation-building, he said that every activist experiences a deep sense of patriotism and national love upon arriving at Reshimbagh. According to him, the environment inspires volunteers to dedicate themselves to social service and national service with commitment and discipline.
Shinde highlighted the organisational strength of the RSS, noting that its network of branches functions not only across India but also globally. He said the guidance of RSS chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat continues to inspire volunteers, providing them with moral strength and direction in their social and national work. Referring to Nagpur’s historical importance, Shinde remarked that the city is not only Maharashtra’s sub-capital but also the birthplace of the RSS, founded a hundred years ago by Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar.
Emphasising the inclusive philosophy of the organisation, Shinde said that volunteers coming to Reshimbagh rise above divisions of caste, language, and region, dedicating themselves to the nation with a spirit of selfless service. He described it as a historical achievement that an organisation has worked continuously for a hundred years without seeking fame or personal gain. Drawing a parallel with the Shiv Sena, he added that RSS workers, like Sena cadres, step forward selflessly during disasters and crises, guided by values of community service and patriotism.
