BMRCL is gearing up to unveil the prototype train of our metro’s Pink Line between Kalena Agrahara-Nagwara.

BMRCL has announced that preparations are underway to unveil the prototype train of Metro Pink route between Kalena Agrahara-Nagwara on December 11.
BEML has prepared the trains required for the Pink Line and the prototype train was ready by the end of November. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar was supposed to unveil the prototype train last Friday. But since Namma Metro decided to inspect the works on the Blue Line at the same time, it has been decided to unveil it on December 11. After that, permission will be obtained for as many new trains as required, BMRCL said.
The Purple Metro line between Kalena Agrahara-Nagwara has an underground and an elevated line. Of these, the elevated line from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere is expected to be operational by next May. The first train will run between Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIM Bangalore, JP Nagar Phase 4, Jayadeva and Tavarekere metro stations. The entire line will be operational by December 2026, sources said.
On August 10, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Yellow Line of Namma Metro. This is the much-awaited Yellow Line of Namma Metro, which is 19.15 km long, from RV Road to Bommasandra. Passenger services began on August 11. This has expanded the city’s metro network to 96.1 km. The second phase of the line is now 53.8 km long. Built at a cost of Rs 5,056.99 crore, the Yellow Line connects RV Road in the North and Bommasandra in the South. It serves 16 stations, including major hubs like Electronic City, Central Silk Board and BTM Layout. Currently, trains run on this line every 15 minutes.

The state government has given a deadline to the companies that have been awarded the contract to complete the metro line from KR Pura to Silk Board by December 2026, the line from KR Pura to Hebbal by December 2027, and the line from Hebbal to the International Airport by June 2027.
