The Central Government has given a positive response to the National Industrial Corridor Development Program (NICDP) proposed by Heavy Industries and Steel Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy. The plan aims to boost industrial growth, transportation, and employment across nine districts of Karnataka.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal wrote to Kumaraswamy, appreciating the proposal and expressing support for setting up nine industrial parks in Mandya, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Kolar, Hassan, Mangalore, Hubli-Dharwad, Raichur, and Bidar. Kumaraswamy had met Goyal on November 13, 2025, to discuss implementing a comprehensive industrial corridor scheme to strengthen regional development and infrastructure.

Goyal described the plan as a transformative step for Karnataka’s industrial landscape, complementing the Centre’s policy of balanced regional growth. The proposed industrial parks are expected to create large-scale employment, improve transport and supply chain linkages, and promote sector-specific industrial clusters. Manufacturing and transportation industries will be prioritized in Hubli-Dharwad and Mangalore, agro-processing in Raichur, and value-added sectors in Mysore and Kolar.

Kumaraswamy highlighted that integrating these districts into the national industrial corridor will attract private investment, facilitate faster transportation of goods, and support equitable growth across the state. He said the scheme aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India and strengthens Karnataka’s position as a leading industrial hub.

Both ministers emphasized that the NICDP will accelerate industrial progress in all four corners of Karnataka, generating employment opportunities and contributing to sustained economic growth. Kumaraswamy said the discussions were productive, and the Centre’s approval marks an important initial step toward implementing this large-scale initiative.
