Hunger-free mission

Balagangadharanath Swamiji’s lifelong commitment to ensuring food and education for every child was remembered with deep reverence at the BGS Founder’s Day celebrations held at the BGS Grounds on Kengeri–Uttarahalli Main Road. Adi Chunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math Seer, Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji, said the Swamiji’s efforts in the 1970s—when many parents struggled to provide even basic meals for their children—laid the foundation for a hunger-free, education-driven society.
Addressing the gathering at the two-day event, he said Balagangadharanath Swamiji had foreseen the changing nature of education and championed international-standard learning long before it became a national priority. “His vision ensured that BGS institutions earned respect for excellence. Today, more than 500 institutions under BGS provide quality education to 1.7 lakh students,” he said. Urging students to pursue their goals with sincerity and without overthinking the outcome, he reminded them that consistent effort holds greater value than results alone.
Dr. Prakashnath Swamiji, Managing Director of BGS and SJB Group of Institutions, said the success of the celebrations reflected the blessings and guidance of their Gurus. He noted that BGS continues to hold a special place among spiritual leaders across the country, which is why many math heads attended the event without the need for formal invitations. He acknowledged teachers, principals and staff as the backbone of the institution.
Actor Ninasam Satish, an alumnus of the Math, said he owed his achievements to the blessings of the Gurus and the values imparted by the institution. “Whatever I am today is because of their guidance,” he recalled.
Lok Sabha MP Dr. C.N. Manjunath, Agriculture Minister Chaluvarayaswamy, actor-director Jogi Prem, actress Rakshita, and actor Sapthami Gowda were among those present.
