Chikkaballapur
At the district-level tri-monthly KDP meeting held at Sir M. Visvesvaraya Auditorium in Chikkaballapur, Minister for Higher Education and District In-charge Dr. M.C. Sudhakar directed officials to improve KSRTC bus services in all taluk headquarters and district centers, particularly during early mornings and weekends, to benefit students and workers.
Reviewing departmental progress, the minister emphasized that competitive recruitment and merit-based appointments of teachers and lecturers are strengthening government educational institutions. He urged teachers and lecturers to engage actively in academic activities and ensure quality learning environments in government schools and colleges. Instructions were issued to appoint teachers immediately in schools facing staff shortages.
Dr. Sudhakar noted that the government aims to provide high-quality education, nutritious food, and conducive learning conditions in residential schools to attract more rural students. The government plans to open one residential school per Gram Panchayat, ensuring education accessibility for all. Currently, out of 28 Hoblis in the district, four lack residential schools; officials were instructed to identify suitable locations and propose their establishment.
The minister also stressed regular monitoring of hostels and directed that maintenance issues be promptly addressed. He announced that Maulana Azad Model School, presently operating from a rented building in Chintamani town, will soon receive a one-acre government land for constructing its own campus.
Highlighting upcoming development initiatives, Dr. Sudhakar said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will visit Sidlaghatta taluk on November 24 to launch projects worth ₹2,000 crore, including ₹1,400 crore in foundation-stone laying and ₹600 crore in inauguration works. Additionally, 3,000 construction workers will receive tool kits, along with various welfare benefits and title deeds.
