Kumaraswamy Slams Govt, Says ‘More Dangerous Terrorists Sit in Vidhana Soudha’

Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy launched a scathing attack on the Karnataka government on Monday, alleging that while terrorists are lodged in Parappana Agrahara Central Prison, “far more dangerous terrorists sit inside the Vidhana Soudha.” Speaking to reporters at the JD(S) State Office, JP Bhavan, he expressed outrage over reports that serial rapists and terrorists were being offered VIP facilities, including access to mobile phones, inside the prison.

Kumaraswamy said it was disgraceful that jail authorities were allegedly extending royal treatment to notorious undertrials and convicts. “Terrorists are not only in prison — there are even more dangerous terrorists in the Vidhana Soudha. You know better than I do who they are,” he told the media.

The minister noted that such issues were not new, recalling earlier incidents when senior IPS officers had clashed over VIP treatment to inmates, and courts had issued warnings to prison staff. “Yet again, the same incidents are repeating. What is the use of these so-called investigations when the system itself is compromised?” he said.

Kumaraswamy urged both the media and the public to question the Chief Minister and the Home Minister about repeated administrative failures, stressing that the government’s lapses were being exposed daily. “If terrorists are getting privileges behind bars, the rot clearly runs deeper,” he remarked.

“The Chief Minister says BJP leaders have no dignity. But what dignity do they themselves have? That is what they must question,” Kumaraswamy added.
