Mysuru
Mysuru Hotel Owners’ Association has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to drop the proposed flyover projects on Jhansi Lakshmi Bai Road and Vinoba Road in Mysuru.
In a letter to the CM, Mysuru City and district Hoteliers Association President C.Narayanagowda said that it seems there is a plan to construct flyovers on Jhansi Lakshmi Bai Road and Vinoba Road but the proposal must be dropped in the interest of preserving the city’s beauty. If such flyovers are constructed in the central part of the city, it will destroy the charm and heritage character of this beautiful, traditional city.
He said What Mysuru actually needs are flyovers at the following circles located along the Ring Road:Manipal Hospital Circle (from the Bengaluru side), Sathagalli Circle (from the Mahadevapura side), Devegowda Circle (from the Bannur side), Alanahalli Circle (from the Nanjanagudu–Narasipur side), APMC Circle (from the Nanjanagudu side), Srirampura Circle (from the HD Kote side), Bogadi Ring Road Circle, and
The flyover on the Hunsur Road has already been constructed
He wanted that construction of such necessary flyovers be taken up at these locations urgently. At the same time, the soil testing and preliminary work for the proposed city-centre flyovers be immediately stopped. The government must preserve Mysuru’s beauty in its present state without altering the city’s unique aesthetic appeal. Even according to current surveys, flyovers in the central areas will not be needed for another fifty years.
“We wholeheartedly welcome your initiative to develop a “Greater Mysuru”, and appreciate your assurance that the traditional heritage structures and city’s beauty will be maintained as they are. In this regard, we once again urge you to halt the construction of the proposed flyovers in the city centre”, Narayanagowda said.
