“Karnataka is not merely land; it is the emotion and bond that unite Kannadigas,” said Minister for Minor Irrigation, Science and Technology, and Kodagu District In-charge N.S. Boseraju.
He was speaking after hoisting the flag during the grand 70th Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations held at the District Police Parade Ground in Madikeri on Friday. The minister said, “Karnataka, Kannada, and Karunadu are not just about geography or language—they embody the deep emotions and unity of Kannadigas. Kannada Rajyotsava should be celebrated as a daily festival of pride by every Kannadiga.”
He noted with pride that Kannada literature has received the highest number of Jnanpith Awards in India. “Behind today’s proud celebration of Kannada Rajyotsava lies the tireless struggle of many great leaders who fought for the unification of our state. Thousands of Kannadigas worked day and night for administrative and emotional unity. We must remember these great souls with gratitude,” he added.
Minister Boseraju also highlighted that under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s leadership, the government has implemented several developmental programmes in Kodagu district and across Karnataka, giving special importance to the Kannada language and culture. He urged youth to take pride in Kannada literature, art, and culture, becoming true inheritors of Karnataka’s rich heritage.
He further said that, along with the guarantee schemes, the government continues to prioritise basic infrastructure and development across departments.
The event featured an impressive parade by the Police, NCC, Home Guards, Scouts and Guides, and Sevadal teams. School students presented colourful cultural programmes celebrating Karnataka’s language and heritage, while tableaux from various departments showcased ongoing developmental initiatives.
The event was presided over by Madikeri MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda and attended by Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja, Additional DC R. Aishwarya, SP K. Ramarajan, Guarantee Scheme Implementation Committee Chairman Dharmaja Uttappa, people’s representatives, and officials from various departments.
