District Collector Swaroopa T.K. has directed officials to work together to make the My Bharat programme successful and create better opportunities for young people.
She was speaking while chairing a meeting of the My Bharat District Level Advisory Committee at the District Collector’s office.
The My Bharat initiative, run by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, aims to build leadership, skills and social responsibility among young people. It also seeks to involve youth in community activities and make them active partners in achieving the national goal of Developed India by 2047.
The Collector said all departments must coordinate closely to ensure the programme reaches young people effectively across the district. She stressed the need for joint efforts to organise activities that can improve leadership abilities, practical skills and participation in social development.
District Youth Officer Ullas explained that My Bharat is a digital platform designed for young people aged 15 to 29. Through the platform, registered youth can take part in programmes such as Border Village Programme camps, Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament and the National Youth Festival. Volunteers can also gain practical learning experience in different fields.
The meeting discussed organising skill training programmes, leadership camps and entrepreneurship workshops to improve employment opportunities for youth in both rural and urban areas. Additional District Collector Abid Gadyal, Information Officer Manjunath B., Dr. G. Shankar, principal of Government Women’s First Grade College, committee members, district officers and college principals attended the meeting. Officials were asked to strengthen coordination so that more youth can benefit from the programme and contribute meaningfully to society.
