Bengaluru Turf Club Gears Up for Winter Races, to Shift Operations to Kunigal SoonBENGALURU

The Bangalore Turf Club (BTC) is preparing for its upcoming winter racing season even as it awaits the state government’s official order to shift operations to Kunigal.

BTC President Manjunath Ramesh said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed the club to relocate from Bengaluru, leaving no option but to move. “We are following the government’s directions,” added Javarai S. Poonawalla of Poonawalla Stud Farms, Pune, noting that the complete shift to Kunigal would take around two years.

Siddaramaiah said that of the 80 acres currently occupied by the club, about six acres would be retained for administrative purposes.

Ramesh also announced that after challenges due to GST 2.0, the winter races will now be conducted over 24 days. Meanwhile, the club has moved the Supreme Court seeking exemption of betting activities from the 40% GST imposed on goods.
