In a shocking breach of police discipline, Yadgir Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Rajasekhar Rathod has been suspended after a video surfaced showing him celebrating the birthday of a known history-sheeter, Nagaraj Jugur. The incident, which took place inside the police station, drew widespread criticism after visuals of Rathod and Nagaraj cutting a cake and playing cards together went viral.
Yadgir Superintendent of Police (SP) Prithvik Shankar took swift action after a preliminary investigation confirmed the PSI’s misconduct and violation of departmental rules. The inquiry revealed that Rathod had not only developed an inappropriate association with the criminal but had also engaged in activities unbecoming of a police officer while on duty.
Officials stated that such behavior tarnishes the image of the police force and sets a poor example for law enforcement standards. Following the inquiry report, Rathod was immediately suspended, and a departmental investigation has been launched to determine further disciplinary measures.
The incident has raised serious questions about internal discipline and accountability within the police department, prompting senior officers to issue warnings against fraternizing with individuals involved in criminal activities.
