Ramanagara MLA Iqbal Hussain performed a traditional puja and offered baagina at the Rangarayaradoddi Lake on Tuesday after it filled up completely following heavy rains. Speaking to the media, he said that due to divine grace, the Ramanagara constituency has received abundant rainfall this year, leading to the lake filling up for the first time in several years. As per local tradition, a ritual offering was made to mark the occasion.
Responding to political questions, Hussain declined to comment on the ongoing debate regarding a possible RSS ban, stating that each organization follows its own ideology. He added that the Congress party stands for secularism and works for the welfare of the poor. “The RSS has completed 100 years, and I have no intention of making any remarks about them. We will accept what is good and reject what is not,” he said.
On the issue of a change in Chief Minister, Hussain said he had already expressed his views earlier, which the media had widely reported. The party high command has now instructed leaders not to discuss the matter publicly.
He also addressed local concerns, saying a few individuals were opposing the Ramanagara Grade-1 City Municipal status for personal gain but assured that the proposal would not be withdrawn.
After offering prayers, the MLA enjoyed a brief solo boat ride on the lake. Several officials and local representatives, including Chetan Kumar, Dr. Jayanna, and Ayesha, were present during the event.
